Marcus Theatres won't show 'One for the Money'

If you’re hoping to catch the Katherine Heigl flick “One for the Money” this weekend, your options are few in the Milwaukee area. Marcus Theatres, a division of Milwaukee-based The Marcus Corp., won’t be showing the film because it couldn’t reach a financial deal with Lionsgate, the film’s distributor, according to the website Deadline Hollywood. The site reports that Marcus was unhappy with Lionsgate’s deal with Groupon this weekend for discounted tickets to the movie. Marcus spokesman Carlo Petrick sent me the following statement: "Unfortunately we were not able to reach an agreement with the distributor of 'One for the Money' to exhibit their film in Marcus Theatres... ... Three men charged in three Cudahy burglaries

CUDAHY — Three men have been charged in three separate burglary incidents in Cudahy. 19-year-old Jarrett Michalowski and 20-year-old Brandon Yaeger have been charged with two counts of burglary (building or dwelling) as party to a crime, and 22-year-old Scott Wise-Yaeger has been charged with one count of burglary (building or dwelling) as party to a crime. All three men are from Cudahy.

The criminal complaint in the case says the first burglary incident occurred in late November, in the 4500 block of S. Packard in Cudahy. A man reported his burglary alarm woke him up in the middle of the night, and he went to his garage and noticed the door had been kicked open, his car had been entered, and a gift card for Burlington Coat Factory was missing from the car. The man says he cancelled the card the next morning.

The complaint says Yaeger and Michalowski tried to use the cancelled card the next day, and were captured by surveillance video.

President’s shout out putting Oak Creek’s Master Lock in spotlight

OAK CREEK — Milwaukee-based Master Lock is basking in the national spotlight after being highlighted in President Barack Obama‘s State of The Union address on Tuesday night.

The company is headquartered in Oak Creek, with a plant in Milwaukee. In the address, Obama commended Master Lock for moving 100 jobs from China, back to their Milwaukee unionized plant. “If you’re a company that wants to outsource jobs, you shouldn’t get a tax break for doing it. That money should be used for companies like Master Lock to bring jobs here,” Obama said Tuesday night.

A Master Lock company representative says their website saw the amount of traffic they normally see in three days, in five minutes on Tuesday night, after Obama’s mention, and says associates are extremely excited.

Oak Creek police identified the body found along the lakeshore on a public walking area near the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District facility at 5th Ave Tuesday as 22-year-old Brittany Finley from South Milwaukee.

Police say the area is open to public access, but not during the winter months. A person was trespassing on the property around 10:30 a.m. when they came across the body.

Officials say the preliminary investigation indicates the death is related to exposure/weather. Police say foul play doesn't appear to be a factor in this case. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner arrived on site at 1 p.m.

One possibility for how Finley died is hypothermia. “That’s when the body temperature drops below 95 degrees. As we know, normal body temperature is about 98.6. At that time, organs shut down, the heart doesn’t function as well, nor does the brain.
