Water Negotiations Between Oak Creek, Waukesha Continue

Oak Creek, one of three cities that might provide Waukesha with Lake Michigan water, could find out by July if it will add the city to its service area.

A successful negotiation could pay off for Oak Creek residents -- under current projections, rates could go down by 25 percent if the city got the contract, utility engineer Mike Sullivan said.

But discussions still have a little ways to go. And after the negotiations made headlines in March, Waukesha Water Utility General Manager Dan Duchniak gave the Oak Creek Common Council some background about the city's quest for lake water in a presentation Tuesday night.

Scott Walker yard signs burned in Fox Point, Oak Creek

OAK CREEK — For the second straight day, police took calls Tuesday, May 15th from people reporting their “Scott Walker” yard signs had been burned. It happened overnight in Oak Creek, after happening early Sunday, May 13th in Fox Point.

Jerry Wille stands with Gov. Scott Walker, and is not afraid to show it. His yard sign, along with at least three others were snatched overnight and burned in the middle of the street. Other neighbors wonder whether the culprits are political enemies, or just young people looking to cause trouble.

“It’s kind of irritating that people stoop to this kind of stuff. It’s just a sign, but on the other hand, it’s kind of bullying,” Wille said.

Thomas Rosandich appointed Oak Creek’s fire chief

OAK CREEK — The Oak Creek Fire and Police Commission has appointed Thomas Rosandich as Oak Creek’s fire chief.

Rosandich comes to the position with over 33 years serving on Oak Creek’s Fire Department. He began as a paid on call firefighter in 1979 and progressed to full-time firefighter, lieutenant and assistant fire chief and training and inspection.

Most recently, Rosandich served as acting fire chief upon retirement of Brian Satula.

Man accused of providing son porn pleads not guilty

OAK CREEK — The 50-year-old Oak Creek man charged with a dozen counts of exposing his own son to pornography pleaded not guilty during his preliminary hearing Tuesday, May 15th. The case is now set to head to trial.

FOX6 News is not identifying the man because of his relationship with the alleged victim in this case and the sensitivity of this story. FOX6 News has learned the man’s wife filed for divorce as of Monday, May 14th.

In the criminal complaint against the man, the alleged victim, now 18 years old, said “that (beginning at the end of fifth or sixth grade, when he was 11 or 12 years old, and continuing every week until early in his freshman year of high school), his father was giving him pornographic videos which (he) was supposed to watch.”

Where’s Chorizo? He was at Miller Park!

MILWAUKEE — Where’s Chorizo? Last year Bernie Brewer went missing and on Tuesday, May 15th, Chorizo went missing — and only Brewers fans could help find him. Starting at 5 a.m., fans flocked to Miller Park to participate in a scavenger hunt to pick up their very own Chorizo lawn ornament, and the statues in the sombreros didn’t last long!

2,000 Chorizo lawn ornaments were strategically placed throughout the parking lots and surrounding area of Miller Park.  There was a strict limit of one ornament per person and Brewers staff were placed in all planting locations to monitor the scavenger hunt activities.

South Milwaukee Youth Theater to perform Oz! and Disney's Aladdin Jr.

South Milwaukee Youth Theatre (SMYT) will perform Disney's Aladdin Jr. and Oz! The South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center is currently registering students for the upcoming programs. The junior program (age 5-11) is performing Disney's Aladdin Jr., and the senior program (age 12-18).

The SMYT Juniors will be performing Disney's Aladdin Jr. at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center(SMPAC) July 21 at 1pm and 6pm. The SMYT Seniors will be performing Oz! at the SMPAC July 27 and 28 at 7pm and July 29 at 2pm.

Registration for junior registration is $35 for South Milwaukee residents and $50 for non-residents, and senior registration is $40 for residents and $55 for non-residents. To register your child call 414-766-5049.
